DOHA, 12 July, 2012 - Prominent female shooter, Bahiya Al-Hamad will be Qatar ‘s flag-bearer at the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony later this month, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) confirmed on Wednesday.
Qatar will participate in the prestigious 2012 Olympic Games with a delegation consisting of 8 male and 4 female athletes.
Qatar national athletes will compete in four games, including shooting, athletics, swimming and Table-Tennis.National athletes who are due to compete in the upcoming London Olympic Games are : Nasser Al-Attiyiah (Skeet), Rashid Al-Thaba (Trap/Double Trap), Noor Al-Malki (100m Athletics), Hamza Driouch and Mohammed Al-Qarni ( men 1500 m), Mohammed Bakheet ( Marathon), Mutaz Barsham ( High Jump), Musaab Abdulrahman Balah (men 800 m), Nada Wafa Arkagi and Ahmed Gheith Al-Attari in the swimming freestyle and Aia Magdi (Table Tennis).
“ I will exert all my efforts to honor my country and people at such glorious moments in London 2012 Olympic Games” said the Qatar young female shooter.
It worth mentioning that , Al-Hamad was selected as Qatar’s flag-bearer during Singapore 2010 Olympic Games .
Al-Hamad confidently claimed 2 gold medals in women rifle event at the outgoing Arab Games 2011, she also qualified to Youth Olympic Games 2010.
