Qatar Padel Team Claim Silver Medal at GCC Games Doha 2026

Doha:  Qatar padel team claimed the silver medal at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 after delivering impressive performances throughout the tournament before facing one of their toughest moments in the final against the UAE, when player Rashid Nawaf suffered an injury and was unable to complete the decisive match. The UAE eventually secured victory 2-1 to win the gold medal.

The Qatari duo of Issa Shanan and Rayan Al Jefairi lost the opening match in straight sets (0-6, 2-6). However, the duo of Mohammed Saadoun and Hassan Wali brought Team Qatar back into the contest after winning the second match in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).

The decisive third match saw Team Qatar duo Rashid Nawaf and Mishari Nawaf level at one set apiece after scores of 6-7 and 7-5. The final set was tied at 3-3 before Rashid Nawaf suffered an injury and was unable to continue, handing the UAE the overall victory and the gold medal, while Kuwait secured bronze.

The silver medal capped another strong campaign for Team Qatar, who had opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Saudi Arabia before defeating Kuwait 2-1 in the second round and Bahrain 3-0 in the third round.

In the women’s competition, Kuwait won the gold medal, Saudi Arabia claimed silver, and the UAE secured bronze.

The medal ceremony took place immediately after the final at the specially constructed padel venue under Aspire Dome. The winners were crowned by H.E. Mohammed bin Yousuf Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, H.E. Dr. Thani Al Kuwari, Second Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Tareq Zainal, President of the Asian Padel Federation and Secretary-General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation.
