Qatar U-20 Squad Announced for AFC U-20 Asian Cup Finals

Doha: Qatar U-20 national football team coach, Spanish tactician Felix Angel, has unveiled the 30-player squad ahead of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Finals, set to take place in China from February 12 to March 1, 2025.

The tournament’s draw, conducted last November, placed Qatar in Group A alongside hosts China, Australia, and Kyrgyzstan. The 42nd edition of the competition features 16 teams, with China automatically qualifying as hosts and the remaining teams earning their spots through qualifiers held in October.

Qatar booked their place in the finals after dominating Group 10 in the qualifiers held in Doha last September. They earned a perfect 9 points by defeating Singapore (3-0), Hong Kong (2-0), and Jordan (3-2). Jordan finished second with 6 points.

The Qatar U-20 team will make their 16th appearance in the AFC U-20 Championship, a competition they first won in 2014 in Myanmar by defeating North Korea 1-0 in the final. The team has also reached the semifinals in the 2018 edition in Indonesia and achieved notable finishes in previous tournaments: runners-up in 1980, third place in 1988, and fourth place in 1986 and 1990.

In their 15 prior appearances, Qatar has played 62 matches, securing 28 wins, 9 draws, and 25 losses, with a total of 98 goals scored and an equal number conceded.

Team Qatar coach called up a squad of 30 players, including three goalkeepers: Abubakar Mohamed, Jalal Amir and Mohamed Fawzi . The squad also includes Ibrahim Hassan, Awab Fadil, Jassim Al Hamad, Ziad Fadi, Moath Ibrahim, Abdullah Mujeeb, Mohamed Khaled, Nawaf Al Yeheri, Youssef Mohamed, Younis Mohamed, Ayoub Al Aloui , Bassam Adel, Tahseen Mohamed, Salem Reda, Jamil Freikh, Shanin Abdullah, Moatamin Mohamed , Joao Pedro, Abdulaziz Abbas, Ghanem Al Bukhit, Abdulaziz Al Bakri , Abdullah Salman, Mohamed Hani Ali Mohamed, Nasser Adel, Nour Eddine Tamer and Fayeze Marwan.
