South Korea get better of Team Qatar in Asian Volleyball Challenge Cup

Manama, June 3 (QNA) - The Qatari volleyball team lost to their South Korean counterparts by 2-3 on Monday at the beginning of Group C matches of the Asian Men's Volleyball Challenge Cup, currently being held in Bahrain, and continues until June 10, qualifying for the World Challenge Cup.

The match was strong between the two teams and lasted for five rounds.

The Qatari team lost first set by 16-25, then won the second by 25-19, and lost in the third game by 16-25, then came back to win the fourth by 25-22. The score was equalized by two sets each, extending the match to the fifth game, which won by the Korean team 20-18.

The Qatari national team will play on Tuesday its second match in the tournament against the Indonesia national team.

The Qatari national team participating in the tournament includes 14 players, led by Argentine coach Camilo Soto. 

On other hand,  Qatar men's beach volleyball team consists of  duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan  ranked 15th in the Federation Internationale de Volleyball's (FIVB) World Ranking issued  on Monday.

Team Qatar duo  collected 5800 points from their latest participation in  the championships and  world tours.

The Swedish duo David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig  lead  the FIVB World Ranking with 8,140 points, followed by  second placed Brazilian duo  George Wanderley and Andre Stein with 7,640 points.
