Doha: China and Japan claimed the majority of titles at the WTT Feeder Doha 2024 which was concluded at Lusail Arena on Sunday.
The final day featured five championship matches across mixed doubles, men’s and women’s doubles, and men’s and women’s singles.
In the men’s singles final, Chinese Taipei’s Chang Yuan (world rank 135) captured his first-ever title by defeating Norway’s Haug Borgar (world rank 129) 3-1.
In the women’s singles, Japan's Hitomi Sato (world rank 84) secured the title with a 3-1 victory over India’s Yashaswini Ghorpade (world rank 87).
The mixed doubles title went to China’s Xing Jun Song and Wang Xiaonan, who bested their compatriots Ning Xian Kun and Zhang Xiangyu 3-1.
In the women’s doubles, Japan’s Anne Yusawa and Una Ojio triumphed, defeating fellow Japanese players Hitomi Sato and Honoka Hashimoto 3-1.
Looking ahead, the WTTA Youth Star Contender kicks off on Tuesday at Lusail Arena, featuring top young players competing in 10 categories, including singles and doubles for boys and girls, as well as mixed doubles for under-15 and under-19 age groups. The tournament's total prize pool is $15,000.
