Schools Olympic Program Ramadan Tournament 2025 kicks off

DOHA  – The fourth edition of the School Olympic Program Ramadan Championship officially commenced the night before last at the renowned Qatar University sports fields, marking the start of an exhilarating competition. This year’s championship has attracted an impressive turnout, with 32 public and private schools participating, all vying for a place on the coveted winners’ podium.

The first day of matches was packed with intense and thrilling encounters across Groups A and B, showcasing the remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship of the young athletes.

In Group A, Edison Academy (Aspire) put on an outstanding performance, securing an emphatic 7-1 victory over Cairo Private School. Meanwhile, Al-Ma'ahad Al-Dini Preparatory Secondary School fought to a 2-2 draw against Cairo Private School. Edison Academy then played to a 1-1 draw against Al-Ma'ahad Al-Dini, while Musab bin Omair School triumphed with a 2-1 win over Cairo Private School. Musab bin Omair followed up with another 2-2 draw against Edison Academy, and Al-Ma’ahad Al-Dini sealed a 3-2 victory over Musab bin Omair in a thrilling contest.

In Group B, Middle East International School and Belgravia High School emerged as the front-runners, advancing to the next stage. Middle East International School dominated the group, finishing in first place with a perfect 9 points, while Belgravia High School secured second place with 6 points.

Middle East International School delivered an impressive performance, winning all three of its matches: a 6-0 victory over Qatar Science & Technology School, a 2-0 win against Al-Shahaniya Preparatory Secondary School, and a 3-2 triumph over Belgravia High School. Belgravia High School, for its part, claimed two crucial victories, overcoming Al-Shahaniya Preparatory Secondary School 3-1 and Qatar Science & Technology School.

Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, the Executive Director of the School Sports Federation, highlighted the remarkable success of previous editions, which has sparked greater interest and participation this year. He stated, "The overwhelming success of past editions has inspired a continued commitment to delivering an extraordinary fourth edition. The organizing committee has worked tirelessly to expand participation, ensuring that the largest possible number of schools can take part in this vibrant and competitive environment."
