Team Qatar shines with Six Medals at Youth Athletics Championship

DOHA – Team Qatar continued its commanding performance at the 18th edition of the Youth Athletics Championship, hosted at the track and field arena of Qatar Sports Club. With five nations , Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and the UAE, in competition, the home team bagged a total of six medals on day two, including two golds, one silver, and three bronzes.

The standout performances were led by Yousef Jebreen, who stormed to victory in the 400m sprint, clinching gold with an impressive time of 47.10 seconds. Saudi sprinter Musaad Al-Subaie followed with silver in 47.36 seconds, while Qatar’s Samer Mousa secured bronze, clocking in at 47.54 seconds.

In the discus throw, Hamad Al-Sultan delivered a gold-medal performance with a powerful throw of 57.06 meters, while teammate Mohammed Mohammed took silver with a mark of 52.35 meters. Saudi Arabia’s Hadi Al-Moallem rounded out the podium with a bronze (50.71 meters).

Qatar’s Moath Omar captured bronze in the 3000m, finishing third with a time of 11:58.24. Oman’s Mohammed Al-Muharbi claimed silver in 9:27.23, while Saudi Arabia’s Omar Al-Mami surged to gold in 8:52.77.

Meanwhile, in the high jump, Abdulrahman Al-Malki added another bronze for Team Qatar with a leap of 1.90 meters, placing behind Hamad Ahmad of Kuwait (silver) and Mohammed Al-Duaij, also of Kuwait, who soared to gold with 2.00 meters.
