Samba finishes second in Paris Diamond League Meeting

Paris: Qatar’s Abderrahman Samba delivered a sensational performance at the Paris Diamond League on Friday, finishing second in the men’s 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 47.09 seconds— his fastest mark in seven years.

Samba’s impressive run pushed American star Rai Benjamin all the way to the line, as the reigning Olympic champion held on for victory in 46.93 seconds, setting a new meet record. The Qatari hurdler’s time also surpassed the 2025 season-best of 47.28 seconds set by Olympic gold medallist Karsten Warholm, marking a strong return to form for Samba on the international stage.

The USA’s Trevor Bassitt rounded out the podium with a time of 48.14 seconds.

The result strengthens Benjamin’s dominance in the event this season, adding to his back-to-back Diamond League wins in under a week and confirming his status as a leading contender for the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo.
