Manama: Team Qatar will begin their campaign in the inaugural edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship with a match against Saudi Arabia this evening, as part of Group B competitions hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from July 17 to 27.
The Qatari team wrapped up their technical and physical preparations in Doha before traveling to Manama to participate in the championship, which is organized for the first time by the West Asia Volleyball Association. The team heads into the tournament with high hopes of making a strong start in this new regional competition.
Team Qatar will play three group-stage matches, starting with Saudi Arabia today, followed by a clash with Oman tomorrow, before concluding the first round with a game against Kuwait next Monday.
Group A features host nation Bahrain, along with the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon, while Group B includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait.
The tournament is part of the West Asia Volleyball Association’s vision to develop the sport and foster regional competition. The initiative aims to create a regular continental tournament platform and offer national teams increased opportunities for high-level match experience and talent development.
