Seoul: Qatar’s national basketball team is set to face South Korea on Sunday in the second of two friendly matches held as part of its ongoing training camp in Seoul. The camp marks the third phase of Qatar’s preparations for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 5 to 17, with 16 national teams participating.
In their first encounter on Friday, Qatar fell 90–71 to the hosts in a match held at Anyang Gymnasium. Despite the loss, the game offered Qatar’s head coach Hakan Demir and his staff an important opportunity to evaluate player performance and assess the team’s tactical development ahead of the continental showdown.
Following the conclusion of the Seoul training camp, Qatar will return home to begin the fourth and final phase of preparation by hosting an international friendly tournament in Doha from July 28 to August 1. The tournament will feature national teams from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Japan, providing high-level competition as the team fine-tunes its readiness for the Asia Cup. (QNA)
