Amman - Team Qatar’s karate athletes won seven medals at the Arab and West Asia Karate Championships, both hosted in Jordan.
In the West Asia Championship, which concluded on Monday, Qatar collected three medals: one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Yaman Al-Natsha claimed gold in the men’s under-67kg category, Abdulrahman Mostafa took silver in the under-21 under-60kg division, and Hassan Mansour Al-Sheikh secured bronze in the juniors’ over-70kg class.
In the Arab Championship, Qatar added four bronze medals. Al-Natsha earned bronze in the men’s under-67kg, while Mostafa picked up two bronzes in the men’s under-60kg and under-21 under-60kg events. Al-Sheikh rounded off the tally with bronze in the juniors’ over-70kg competition.
The Qatari delegation was led by Mr. Adel Al-Marzouqi, Executive Director of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, and included athletes Yaman Al-Natsha, Abdulrahman Mostafa, Hassan Mansour Al-Sheikh, Abdullah Rashad, Mohammed Younes, and Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Mohannadi, along with head coach Mostafa Ahmami and assistant coach Abdullah Daloul.
The delegation will return to Doha on Tuesday after completing their successful campaign in the two back-to-back tournaments.
Mr. Al-Marzouqi praised the athletes’ efforts, saying: “These medals are an important milestone in a journey full of achievements. We will continue working hard to raise Qatar’s flag proudly at international events.”
He added: “Our team performed exceptionally well, earning one gold, one silver, and five bronzes—a strong result. I thank the coaching staff, management, and players for their dedication and teamwork.”
He concluded: “This achievement is no surprise. It reflects continuous hard work and the strategic vision of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, under the leadership of Mr. Eid Al-Muraikhi, to showcase Qatari sport in the best possible way at continental and international levels.”
