Abha, (QNA) - The Qatari national team will face its Yemeni counterpart Sunday, at Damac Stadium in Saudi Arabia in its second match in Group A of the ongoing Gulf U-20 Youth Cup, which continues until September 9.
In the same group, Saudi Arabia, the group leader with 3 points, will play against Kuwait at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium.
The Qatari team had drawn in its opening match of the tournament against Kuwait with two goals each, showing a good level of performance and earning its first point in the competition.
Spanish coach Emmanuel Infante, head of the Qatari team, aims to secure the first win in tomorrow’s match to reach four points, putting the team on the verge of qualifying for the semifinals.
Coach Infante stated in a press interview that participation in this tournament is aimed at gaining experience and exposure in preparation for upcoming competitions.
He expressed optimism about the team’s ability to achieve satisfying results and gain significant technical benefits, alongside efforts to advance to the final stages to maximize the experience.
The 23-player squad includes Naim Al Maghni, Ali Boumediene, Christian Saric, Ahmed Al Sayed, Ahmed Nasser, Iran Kothuru, Emmanuel Francis, Bilal Mohammed, Jadon Joseph, Khaled Al Shuaibi, Khalid Hossam, Radhi Mohammed, Richard Sham, Asim Ahmed, Oloum Mohammed, Abdulaziz Al Mutawa, Omar Ali, Qais Al Rawi, Calvin Masangi, Mohammed Jihad, Mohammed Moatasem, Moamen Mohammed, and Youssef Hani.
Qatar will conclude its group stage matches by facing Saudi Arabia on September 3 at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium.
The tournament matches are being held at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium and Damac Club Stadium. The semifinals will be played on September 7, and the competition will conclude on September 10.
The participating teams have been divided into two groups: Group A includes Qatar, host Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, while Group B includes Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Egypt, which is participating by invitation following the withdrawal of the UAE team.
