Doha: H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, crowned the winners of the Grand Prix events on the closing day of the CHI Al Shaqab International Equestrian Competition, presented by Longines.
The championship, which represents the sixth leg of the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, was staged at Al Shaqab and brought together elite riders from across the globe in showjumping, dressage, and para-dressage competitions. The event offered total prize money exceeding €1.3 million, reaffirming its standing on the international equestrian calendar.
In the Five-Star Grand Prix (160cm), Brazilian rider Marlon Zanotelli secured the title after producing the fastest jump-off round in 36.65 seconds aboard “Charlie Heart.” British rider Peter Devos placed second in 37.84 seconds riding “Casual,” while Lebanese rider Roger Shamas finished third in 39.64 seconds on “Glondon.”
The Three-Star Grand Prix (150cm) was claimed by Switzerland’s Nadja Peter Steiner, who delivered a winning jump-off round in 35.54 seconds aboard “Quarantine.” Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt finished second (36.14 seconds), followed by Britain’s Sienna Charles in third (36.95 seconds) riding “Stardust.”
In the Three-Star class (135cm), American rider Kristen Vanderveen topped the standings with a time of 59.24 seconds aboard “Bull Run’s Lioness.” Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al Asaker finished second in 60.50 seconds riding “Scubellinski Thais,” while Bahrain’s rider claimed third place aboard “Jakadilo” in 60.86 seconds.
Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano won the Three-Star class (145cm), clocking 62.01 seconds aboard “Diarog.” Qatar’s Sultan Salem Al Nuaimi secured second place in 65.66 seconds riding “Energetica,” while fellow Qatari rider Saad Ahmed Al Saad completed the podium in 65.89 seconds aboard “Krakant.”
In the One-Star Grand Prix (130cm), Khalid Jassim Al Suwaidi led a Qatari sweep of the podium, winning the jump-off in 33.20 seconds aboard “Ittiz Queen Z.” Mohammed Essa Al Bukhari followed in second (33.71 seconds) riding “Liza Birina F,” while Hamad Nasser Al Qadi placed third (34.02 seconds) aboard “Happy Tina.”
The One-Star class (120cm) saw Egypt’s Fatma Mohand Al Keshawi claim victory in 54.41 seconds riding “Epo Campo.” Bahrain’s Mohammed Hussein finished second (54.72 seconds) aboard “Golden Eyes,” while Saudi Arabia’s Khalid Al Hadi secured third place (55.12 seconds) riding “DSP.”
In the Three-Star Para-Dressage events, American rider Fiona Howard won Grade II aboard “Ferguson.” Italy’s Francesca Salvadè captured the Grade III title riding “Escari,” while fellow American Kate Shoemaker topped Grade IV aboard “Jagger.” Sweden’s Lena Malmström claimed Grade V riding “Fabulous Fideli.”
Para-dressage classifications are determined according to the athlete’s level of impairment, with Grade I representing the most severe cases and Grade V the least severe.
In the Five-Star Grand Prix Special Dressage, Germany’s Leonie Lauks secured the title after delivering a strong performance aboard “Sternenwanderer,” scoring 64.383. Thailand’s Subakamol Phontanadet finished in second place.
