Qatar 3×3 Team Sets Off for Singapore to Compete in Asia Cup

DOHA – Qatar’s 3×3 national basketball team has departed for Singapore to take part in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup, taking place from April 1 to 5, 2026.

The tournament brings together top Asian teams in both men’s and women’s competitions, highlighting the rapid growth and rising level of 3×3 basketball across the continent.

Qatar’s participation comes as part of its ongoing preparations to compete at the highest level in one of Asia’s premier 3×3 events. The competition also features strong Arab representation, including teams from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, reflecting the sport’s growing popularity in the region.

The Qatari delegation is led by Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, Secretary General of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director of National Teams, alongside Yaseen Ismail, Director of the 3×3 National Teams. The team is coached by Marco, who aims to guide the players toward a strong and competitive performance.

Qatar’s squad includes four players: Mohammed Hashem Zidan, Mubarak Jama, Dejan Janic, and Nedim Muslic. The team will be looking to deliver an impressive showing and reflect the steady progress of Qatar basketball in the 3×3 format.

Qatar will begin its campaign in Group D on April 3, facing India in its opening match, before taking on New Zealand later the same day. The match against New Zealand is expected to be a key 
test, given their strength and experience in 3×3 competitions.

The tournament features 22 teams from across Asia, including Mongolia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Tonga, Thailand, Turkmenistan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Macau, Maldives, and Qatar.
