Police SC Crown Amir Volleyball Cup Title for Second Time in Club History

Doha:  Police SC claimed the Amir Volleyball Cup title for the 2025–2026 season for the second time in their history, after defeating Al Arabi in straight sets in the final held today at Aspire Hall.

The match scores were 25-21, 25-23, and 25-23.

H.E. Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, along with Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, and Colonel Ahmed bin Hamad Al Thani, Vice President of the Qatar Police Sports Federation, crowned Police SC with the championship trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of QAR 2 million. Al Arabi, the runners-up, received silver medals and a prize of QAR 1 million.

Both teams delivered a high-level performance in the final, reflecting their determination to secure the title. The match remained closely contested throughout, with Police SC proving more decisive in the crucial closing moments of all three sets, amid strong crowd support.

This title marks Police SC’s second Amir Cup triumph, following their first in the 2021–2022 season, also at the expense of Al Arabi. It is also their third title this season, having won the Arab Clubs Championship in Tunisia last January against Etoile du Sahel, as well as the Qatar Cup in March for the third time in their history after defeating Al Arabi 3–1.

Al Arabi, who were crowned Qatar Volleyball League champions this season, remain the most successful club in the history of the Amir Cup with 23 titles, ahead of Al Rayyan (17 titles) and Qatar SC (4 titles).

Both teams reached the final after Al Arabi defeated Qatar SC in straight sets (25-22, 25-22, 27-25), while Police SC overcame Al Wakrah in five sets (20-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-13).

It is worth noting that Al Rayyan were the defending champions, having won the 2024–2025 title after defeating Al Wakrah 3–1 in the final. However, this season they only secured the West Asia Championship title for the fourth consecutive time, held in Kuwait, and did not reach the finals of the Amir Cup or Qatar Cup.

H.E. Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana praised the level displayed by both Police SC and Al Arabi in the final, noting that Police SC deservedly secured their second title in the competition.

Speaking to the media following the awarding ceremony, he said the match lived up to expectations and reflected the significant development of volleyball in Qatar in recent years. He added that the strong attendance clearly demonstrated the growing popularity of the sport.

He continued: “We congratulate Police SC on this well-deserved achievement after delivering outstanding performances throughout the tournament and confirming their superiority with a strong display in the final against a highly competitive Al Arabi side.”

He further noted that the Qatar Volleyball Association continues to organize competitions professionally while supporting clubs and national teams, emphasizing that these efforts are beginning to yield tangible results through the noticeable rise in technical standards and increased competitiveness.

H.E. the First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee stressed that such high-level finals represent an important step forward, expressing his hope that this momentum will continue in the coming seasons to further enhance the future of volleyball in Qatar at both regional and international levels.
