Qatar Bowling Team Win Triple Event Gold at GCC Games

Doha, QNA – The Qatar bowling team claimed the gold medal in the trio event on the third day of the bowling competitions at the 4th GCC Games currently taking place in Doha, with the event set to conclude next Sunday.

The Qatari trio of Talal Al Marri, Badr Al Sada, and Jassim Al Marikhi secured first place with a total score of 3,785 points collected over six games, following strong competition against the teams of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman.

The Saudi trio of Bandar Al Yabah, Ziyad Al Tuwayrib, and Ahmed Abu Al Reesh won the silver medal after finishing second with 3,655 points, while Kuwait’s trio of Aseel Al Roumi, Faisal Saleem, and Mustafa Al Mousawi claimed the bronze medal with 3,633 points.

Following the conclusion of the event, Abdullah Sultan Al Qattan, President of the Qatar Bowling Federation, and Salman Abdullah Abdul Ghani, Honorary President of the federation, crowned the top three winners.

Bowling competitions continue today, Friday, with the team event taking place over two days. Winners of the event, along with the overall standings champions, will be crowned tomorrow, Saturday.

Meanwhile, Qatar also secured the gold medal in the 10-ball billiards doubles event as part of the billiards and snooker competitions at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026. The Qatari duo of Ali Al Obaidli and Abdul Latif Al Fawal, with Mansour Al Obaidli serving as reserve player, won the gold medal after defeating Kuwait 7-1 in yesterday’s final.

The Qatari pair delivered an impressive technical performance and controlled the match from start to finish, taking an early lead before extending their advantage to secure victory by six full frames.

Qatar had advanced to the final after defeating Saudi Arabia 7-4 in the semi-finals, while Kuwait overcame the UAE 7-6 in the other semi-final match.

Five teams participated in the 10-ball billiards doubles event representing Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE, with each team consisting of two players and one reserve player.

The billiards and snooker competitions at the GCC Games feature ten events: five in billiards — 10-ball singles, 9-ball singles, billiards singles, team billiards, and 10-ball doubles — in addition to five snooker events, namely snooker singles, team snooker, 6-red snooker singles, 15-red snooker singles, and 15-red team snooker.

Qatar is represented by seven players in the billiards and snooker competitions: Ali Al Obaidli, Muhanna Al Obaidli, Mansour Al Obaidli, Ahmed Saif, Bashar Hussein, Mishal Turki Al Ali, and Abdul Latif Al Fawal.

Elsewhere, Qatar won three medals — two silver and one bronze — in the boxing competitions at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026.

Qatari boxer Mohammed Al Faqih won the silver medal in the 55kg category after losing 4-1 in the final to Saudi boxer Muhannad Majrashi, who claimed the gold medal.

Al Faqih had advanced to the final after defeating UAE boxer Sultan Abdullah 5-0 in the semi-finals.

Qatari boxer Mohammed Lassaad also claimed silver in the 75kg category after losing 4-1 in the final to Bahrain’s Ali Abdullah, who won the gold medal.

Lassaad had reached the final after defeating Saudi boxer Abdullah Darkazanli 4-1 in the semi-finals.

In the 60kg category, Qatar’s Youssef Al Sayed secured the bronze medal, while Saudi Arabia’s Ziyad Majrashi won gold and Bahrain’s Omar Boudhaihail claimed silver.

In handball, Team Qatar defeated the UAE 28-20 yesterday in their opening match of the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026.

The Qatari side delivered a strong performance that reflected its readiness to compete for the gold medal and add another achievement to the distinguished record of Qatari handball.

Qatar is scheduled to face Kuwait tomorrow, Saturday, in its second match of the tournament, while Bahrain will take on Kuwait today, Friday.

The handball competitions at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 are being held at Duhail Sports Hall.
