Qatar Handball Team Suffer Defeat Against Bahrain at GCC Games Doha 2026

Doha: Team Qatar handball team lost to Bahrain 24-19 today at Duhail Sports Hall as part of the competitions of the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026.

The defeat marked Team Qatar’s first loss of the tournament after previously defeating the UAE 28-20 in the opening match and Kuwait 34-19 in the second round.

Team Qatar remained second in the standings with four points, while Bahrain raised their tally to six points at the top of the table after earlier defeating Kuwait 30-21 and Saudi Arabia 36-25. Bahrain will play their fourth and final match against the UAE on Thursday.

Team Qatar will face Saudi Arabia next Friday in the concluding match of the handball competition, with the team still holding hopes of securing a place on the podium at the end of the 4th GCC Games.

It is worth noting that Team Qatar handball had won the gold medal at the previous edition of the GCC Games held in Kuwait in 2022.

Meanwhile, Team Qatar secured the silver medal in the snooker team competition on the final day of the billiards and snooker events at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026.

The Qatari team, consisting of Ali Al Obaidli, Ahmed Saif, and Bashar Hussein, claimed silver after losing 3-0 in the final to the UAE trio of Mohammed Shehab, Khalid Kamali, and Abdulrahman Shamsi.

With this result, Team Qatar billiards and snooker raised their overall tally to six medals — including two gold and four silver medals. The first gold medal came in the 10-ball billiards doubles event through Ali Al Obaidli, Abdul Latif Al Fawal, and reserve player Mansour Al Obaidli, while the second gold medal was won by Ali Al Obaidli in the 15-red snooker singles competition.
