Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah reflects Qatar’s maritime heritage through a striking design by Zaha Hadid Architects, inspired by the sails of traditional dhow boats. The 44,325-capacity venue features a retractable roof and integrated cooling system that support year-round use. Opened in 2019, it hosted group-stage and round-of-16 matches during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The surrounding precinct includes parks, running and cycling tracks, retail outlets and community sports facilities, while the stadium’s legacy configuration provides approximately 20,000 seats.
