Al-Buenain Hails Shooting Triumph as Team Qatar Shines at Aichi-Nagoya

Aichi-Nagoya, Japan – HE Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), said Team Qatar’s two gold medals in the men’s skeet team and individual events at the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” represent another significant achievement for Qatari sport and reflect the high standard reached by Qatari shooting and its ability to compete at the highest level of continental competition.

“We congratulate our national shooting team on this outstanding achievement after winning gold in the men’s team skeet event and Rashid Al Athba claiming gold in the men’s individual event,” Al-Buenain said.

“Our shooters delivered excellent performances throughout the competition and successfully translated their thorough preparations and considerable efforts into two gold medals that make us immensely proud. We commend the dedication of the athletes, technical and administrative staff, and the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, all of whom played an important role in this achievement.”

He added: “These two gold medals underline the strong presence of Qatari shooting at the Asian Games and provide further motivation for all Team Qatar athletes who continue to compete across the different events.

“We have great confidence in all our athletes and look forward to seeing them continue to perform at their best, make the most of the remaining competitions and achieve further positive results while raising the Qatari flag on the podium.”

The QOC Secretary General noted that the two shooting gold medals lifted Team Qatar’s medal tally at the Games to four, following the silver and bronze medals won by Qatar’s karate athletes in previous days.

He stressed that the results reflect the efforts of Qatari athletes and their determination to represent their country in the best possible manner at the continental event.

“We congratulate all our athletes who have reached the podium so far and wish the rest of Team Qatar every success in the upcoming competitions,” Al-Buenain concluded.
“The Games are still ongoing, and our ambition is to see more Qatari athletes on the podium in the coming days.”

Sheikh Joaan Crowns Team Qatar Champions with Team Skeet Gold

Aichi-Nagoya, Japan – HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, presented Qatar’s national shooting team with the gold medal in the men’s team skeet event at the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026,” currently being held in Japan through October 4.The trio of Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, Rashid Saleh Al Athba and Ali Ahmed Al Ishaq delivered a superb performance to top the men’s team skeet standings and secure Team Qatar’s first gold medal of the Games. Kuwait took silver, while India claimed bronze.The achievement was made even more remarkable by Rashid Saleh Al Athba’s triumph in the men’s individual skeet event, where he struck gold after setting a new Asian record.China’s Jianlin Liu claimed the individual silver medal, while Ming Li of Chinese Taipei took bronze. Nasser Al Attiyah finished fifth.The two skeet gold medals mark a landmark achievement for Qatari shooting at the continental level and provide Team Qatar with a major boost as competition continues at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.Following the shooting triumphs, Qatar’s medal tally rose to four medals – two gold, one silver and one bronze. The national karate team had earlier opened Qatar’s medal account with a silver and a bronze.Dr. Mishal Al Nasr, President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, hailed the outstanding performance of Qatar’s shooters after they captured gold in both the individual and team skeet events.“We are extremely happy with this achievement, which we dedicate to our wise leadership and to HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee,” Al Nasr said.“Team Qatar’s shooters produced outstanding performances and deservedly claimed gold in both the men’s individual and team skeet events. Team Qatar Delegation Celebrates Qatar’s Karate Success at Bayt Qatar

Nagoya , Japan - Team Qatar’s delegation at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games celebrated the achievements of the national karate team at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya after the athletes secured two medals , one silver and one bronze  at the Games.The celebration was attended by H.E Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; H.E Jassim Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and Eid Al Marikhi, President of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, alongside karate medalists Abdulrahman Mustafa, who won silver, and Abdullah Rashad, who claimed bronze.The celebration recognized the performances and efforts of the two athletes, who reached the podium and raised the Qatari flag at the continental sporting event.
