Doha: Qatar’s national fencing team returned to Doha with two medals from the Asian U23 Fencing Championships in Manama, Bahrain, from October 27 to November 02, 2026 where Adham Al Deeb claimed silver in the individual foil event and Qatar secured bronze in the team competition.
Khalid Aref, Abdullah Ismail, Adham Al Deeb and Abdulrahman Bourghrib represented Qatar in the team event, delivering strong performances to reach the semi-finals. They narrowly lost 45–43 to Kazakhstan, securing the bronze medal.
In the individual competition, Al Deeb won silver after reaching the final, where he faced top seed Lau Kenji Tsun Yin of Hong Kong. Lau edged the closely contested bout 15–14. Qatar also had three fencers advance to the quarter-finals—Khalid Aref, Abdullah Ismail and Adham Al Deeb—while Abdulrahman Bourghrib delivered a strong performance throughout the championships.
The results reflect the collaboration between the Qatar Fencing Federation and Aspire Academy in preparing athletes and developing their skills through long-term planning aimed at strengthening Qatar’s presence in continental and international competitions.
