Qatar Overcome China to Secure Second Asian Games Victory

AICHI-NAGOYA – Qatar’s national handball team secured its second victory at the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026, defeating China 30-25  yesterday to strengthen its position at the top of Group A.

The victory moved Qatar to four points, level with Japan, who also have four points. The two teams will meet in the final group-stage match on Friday, with the result set to determine first and second place in the group.

Qatar made a commanding start, racing into a 3-0 lead before extending the advantage to 9-5. The Qatari side maintained control of the game and went into the closing stages of the first half leading 12-8.

China responded with increased pressure, narrowing the deficit to 14-12 before fighting back to level the score at 15-15 by halftime.

Qatar returned from the interval with renewed intensity, quickly reclaiming the lead and gradually widening the gap. The team remained composed in the closing stages to complete a 30-25 victory.
