AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan — Qatar’s Abdulla Al Tamimi advanced to the men’s singles Round of 16 at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games after opening his campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory over Mongolia’s Yeson Otgonshimeg on Wednesday.
Al Tamimi produced a dominant display, conceding just seven points across the three games to complete the victory 11–3, 11–2, 11–2.
The Qatari squash star will face Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue in the Round of 16 today, as he bids to continue his Asian Games campaign and build on his bronze-medal achievement in the men’s singles at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Salem Al Malki was eliminated from the men’s singles competition after suffering a 3–0 defeat to South Korea’s Na Joo-young.
Elsewhere, Team Qatar concluded its esports campaign at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after Rashid Al Oulan reached the semi-finals of the Gran Turismo 7 competition before finishing seventh overall.
In eFootball, Team Qatar suffered 3–0 defeats to South Korea in both the mobile and PC competitions. The Qatari team subsequently lost to Saudi Arabia 4–1 on mobile and 4–2 on PC, before closing its group-stage campaign with defeats to Iran, 6–1 on mobile and 3–0 on PC.
Despite the results, Qatar’s participation provided valuable competitive experience for the national team, supporting the continued development of its esports programme and helping lay the groundwork for future international competitions on the road to the Doha 2030 Asian Games.
