Aichi-Nagoya - Qatar’s beach volleyball team “Qatar 1”, comprising Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse, booked their place in the Round of 16 at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games after topping Group A with a 2–0 victory over Oman in their final group-stage match. 

The encounter was closely contested, with Oman producing a strong performance throughout both sets. However, the experience and concentration of the Qatari pair proved decisive at key moments as they won both sets by identical scores of 21–19.

 Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse produced an impressive performance, demonstrating excellent focus and chemistry while handling the pressure at crucial moments to secure top spot in the group and advance to the Round of 16, backed by strong support from the crowd. 

Qatar 1 will face Vietnam in the Round of 16 tomorrow, with Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse looking to maintain their momentum and secure a place in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, “Qatar 2”, comprising Mousa Al Khair and Ehab Mohammed, will face China in the Round of 16 at 1:00pm on 29 September.

The Qatari pair will be aiming to secure victory and continue their campaign. Attention will therefore turn to the two Qatari teams in the Round of 16, with hopes high that both can continue their positive results and strengthen Qatar’s presence in the beach volleyball competition at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
