Aichi-Nagoya The Qatar delegation celebrated the achievements of Team Qatar’s padel, beach volleyball and wrestling athletes at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after they secured two gold medals and one bronze.
The celebration, held at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya, was attended by H.E. Mohammed bin Yousef Al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee; Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Director of the Sports Department at the Qatar Olympic Committee; Team Qatar’s padel, beach volleyball and wrestling medallists; and members of the Qatar delegation.
The padel gold was secured by Mashari Nawaf and Rashed Nawaf following their victory over Malaysia’s Christian Chin and Aidan Yunus, giving Qatar the first men’s padel gold medal in Asian Games history.
In beach volleyball, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan retained their Asian Games title after defeating Indonesia’s Sofyan Rachman Efendi and Bintang Akbar in the final, securing Qatar’s third consecutive Asian Games gold medal in the event.
The triumph extended Team Qatar’s dominance in Asian Games beach volleyball following gold medals at Jakarta-Palembang 2018 and Hangzhou 2022, before successfully defending the title for a third successive edition at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Meanwhile, Shahin Mohammed claimed bronze in the men’s 77kg Greco-Roman wrestling competition after defeating Indonesia’s Andika Sulaiman.
The medals reflect the strong performances delivered by Team Qatar athletes at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and the successes achieved across a number of sports as the Games approach their conclusion.
The Qatar Olympic Committee has continued to celebrate Team Qatar’s medallists throughout the Asian Games by hosting and honouring them at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya in recognition of their achievements.
