The Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon draws on Qatar’s Arabian horse heritage while developing modern competition in show jumping, dressage, endurance, and pentathlon. Its record includes Asian Games gold, a top Olympic placing, and world-class annual events at Al Shaqab.
Founded in 1979, the federation joined the FEI in 1980 and later added modern pentathlon to its remit. Al Shaqab has become a global equestrian centre and a key stage for CHI Al Shaqab and Longines Global Champions Tour events.
Qatar’s show jumping team won Asian Games gold at Incheon 2014, Bassem Hassan Mohamed achieved major Grand Prix success, and Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani finished sixth at Rio 2016, Qatar’s best Olympic equestrian result.
The federation is preparing athletes in both equestrian and modern pentathlon disciplines for future Asian Games competition while preserving the sport’s connection to Qatari identity.
