Qatar ExxonMobil Open 500 kicks off in Doha
Doha: For the second consecutive week, attention turns to the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, where the Qatar Tennis Federation is hosting the 34th edition of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, an ATP 500 tournament featuring the world’s top-ranked players.
Main draw matches get underway on Monday and will continue until February 21, with 32 players competing. The field is headlined by world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, world No. 2 Jannik Sinner, Germany’s world No. 4 Alexander Zverev, Italy’s world No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti, Canada’s world No. 6 Felix Auger-Aliassime, American world No. 7 Taylor Fritz, Australia’s world No. 8 Alex de Minaur, American world No. 9 Ben Shelton, and Kazakhstan’s world No. 10 Alexander Bublik.
Also competing are world No. 11 Daniil Medvedev, champion in Doha in 2023, and world No. 15 Andrey Rublev, the defending champion who also lifted the title in 2020, along with several other top-ranked players. The only notable absentee is Serbian veteran Novak Djokovic, champion in Doha in 2016 and 2017, who will miss the tournament due to fatigue following his participation in the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season.
Top seed Alcaraz will open his campaign against France’s Arthur Rinderknech, ranked 28th in the world. Sinner will face Czech player Tomáš Macháč, ranked No. 31. Meanwhile, defending champion Rublev begins his title defense against the Netherlands’ Jesper de Jong, ranked 86th globally.
Rublev claimed the 2025 Qatar ExxonMobil Open title—his second triumph in Doha—after defeating Britain’s Jack Draper in three sets, 7–5, 5–7, 6–1, in a final that lasted two hours and four minutes on centre court at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Earlier this month, the Qatar Tennis Federation also hosted the 24th edition of the Qatar TotalEnergies Open from February 8 to 14, which concluded with Czech player Karolína Muchová capturing her first Doha title after defeating Canada’s Victoria Mboko in straight sets in the final.

Qatar Women’s Volleyball Team Face Hong Kong
Qatar women’s national volleyball team will face Hong Kong today in the third and final round of Group D at the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026 – in Japan. Qatar will be looking for victory to bounce back from yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to South Korea in the second round of Group D. The sets ended 25-6, 25-6 and 25-10.Qatar began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Vietnam.The women’s volleyball competition features 14 teams divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.Qatar women’s volleyball team will be aiming to finish the group stage with a victory and a positive result that builds on the experience gained from their participation in the Asian Games, which provides an important opportunity to compete against continental opposition and gain further experience for the future.
