Berlin: H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), and H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, attended today the final of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026, held in Berlin, Germany.
The final brought together the United States and France, with the USA claiming a 97-79 victory to secure the world title for the fifth consecutive time and the 12th time in their history.
The game was also attended by Dr. Ahmad Abdulla Al Buenain, Director General of the Local Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, along with a number of officials from FIBA, continental and national federations, as well as several sports figures.
H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Vice Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, had also participated in the “Women in Basketball Forum,” organized by FIBA on the sidelines of the tournament and attended by leading figures and representatives from the sports, media and business sectors.
