Sheikh Joaan reviews progress of Athletes’ Village Project of Doha 2030 Asian Games
Doha: H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 21st Asian Games – Doha 2030, conducted a field visit today to review the latest developments of the Athletes’ Village Project in Lusail City.
H.E. Sheikh Joaan was accompanied by H.E. Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Meer, President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and a member of the Doha 2030 Organizing Committee; H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and member of the Organizing Committee; and Dr. Ahmad Abdulla Al-Buenain, Chief Executive Officer of the Organizing Committee.
During the visit, H.E. Sheikh Joaan was briefed on the ongoing development of the project, which is being delivered in line with the highest international standards to accommodate approximately 18,000 athletes during the Games. The Athletes’ Village will feature integrated infrastructure, modern facilities, and a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet athletes’ needs.
The project also reflects a strong commitment to sustainability across both design and operations, while embracing the smart city concept through the adoption of advanced technologies aimed at enhancing quality of life and ensuring efficient management of facilities and services.

Qatar Women’s Volleyball Team Face Hong Kong
Qatar women’s national volleyball team will face Hong Kong today in the third and final round of Group D at the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026 – in Japan. Qatar will be looking for victory to bounce back from yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to South Korea in the second round of Group D. The sets ended 25-6, 25-6 and 25-10.Qatar began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Vietnam.The women’s volleyball competition features 14 teams divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.Qatar women’s volleyball team will be aiming to finish the group stage with a victory and a positive result that builds on the experience gained from their participation in the Asian Games, which provides an important opportunity to compete against continental opposition and gain further experience for the future.

Al Buenain Visits Team Qatar Delegation
