Team Qatar Secures Three Medals at Arab U20 Athletics Championships in Tunis

Tunis, Tunisia – Team Qatar concluded its campaign at the Arab U20 Athletics Championships with an impressive haul of three medals one gold and two bronze at the end of a highly competitive event held in the Tunisian capital.

The championship brought together 320 male and female athletes representing 15 nations, competing over five days from April 26 to 30 for podium finishes and qualification marks for the World Athletics U20 Championships.

Qatar’s gold medal came through the men’s 4x400m relay team, which delivered a commanding performance to secure top honours. Meanwhile, Mubarak Saeed claimed bronze in the 1500m, while Faisal Mohammed added another bronze in the 400m hurdles, setting a new personal best of 51.55 seconds in the process.

Saeed further underlined his status as one of the region’s rising middle-distance talents, having already won gold in the 3000m at the start of the championships before adding his second medal in the 1500m final.

With these results, Team Qatar raised its total tally to 12 medals (five gold, two silver, and five bronze), marking one of the prominent achievements for Qatari athletics at the youth level during the 2026 season.

Qatar’s participation in the 21st edition of the championships featured a promising group of young athletes across multiple disciplines, reflecting the depth and future potential of the nation’s athletics program.
