Khalifa International Stadium is one of Qatar’s most recognisable sporting landmarks and its oldest major stadium, first opened in 1976 and extensively modernised for the 2006 Asian Games and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Distinguished by its twin arches, covered seating and advanced cooling system, the 45,857-capacity venue hosted the 2019 World Athletics Championships and eight matches during the 2022 World Cup. Located in Aspire Zone, it remains a key home venue for the Qatar national football team and hosts the annual Doha Diamond League athletics meeting.
