Al Arabi defeat Al Khor in Arab Club Handball Championship
OUJDA, September 17, 2017 – Qatar's Al Arabi defeated their counterparts Al Khor 29-19 in the prestigious 33rd Arab Club Handball Championship in Morocco on Saturday.
Al-Arabi squad included Mohammad Al Ebaidi, Moatasem Abdulwahed, Ismail Mohammad, Hadi Murad, Khalid bin Naji, Mohammad Jelani and Anis Abdulrazaq.
Earlier on the tournament, Qatar's Khor team recorded a narrow 27-25 victory over hosts Oujda of Morocco on Friday, while their fellow Al Arabi suffered a 27-30 defeat at the hands of Saqia El Zeit of Tunisia.

الدوحة /قنا/ يستهل المنتخب القطري مشواره في بطولة كأس الخليج تحت 17 عاما لكرة القدم /قطر 2026/، بمواجهة نظيره الصيني في افتتاح البطولة يوم غد الجمعة على استاد حمد الكبير، ضمن الجولة الأولى لمنافسات المجموعة الأولى.ويشارك في البطولة، 10 منتخبات موزعة على مجموعتين، بواقع خمسة منتخبات في كل مجموعة، على أن تخوض الفرق مجموع 23 مباراة.ويتصدر المنتخب القطري المستضيف المجموعة الأولى، إلى جانب الإمارات وعمان والبحرين والصين، فيما يقود المنتخب السعودي، حامل لقب النسخة الماضية، المجموعة الثانية، التي تضم العراق والكويت واليمن ومصر.وإلى جانب مواجهة قطر والصين، يلتقي منتخبا الإمارات والبحرين على استاد حمد بن خليفة، ضمن منافسات الجولة الأولى، يوم غد الجمعة.ويسعى المنتخب القطري لبداية مثالية عندما يلتقي نظيره الصيني الذي يشارك للمرة الأولى، حيث سيكون الانتصار بمثابة خطوة نحو المنافسة على إحدى بطاقتي التأهل إلى الدور نصف النهائي.وكان مدرب المنتخب القطري نيكولاس أرنالدو قد أعلن قائمة اللاعبين المختارين للمشاركة في البطولة، وضمت 23 لاعبا، هم: علي إسماعيل ومحمد أسامة ومحمد حمودي وجعفر أوكين، وعمر أحمد ومبارك الدوسري، ويوسف هلال، وعبدالرحمن عادل، وكايدي هيلتون، وعلي يوسف وفارس عبيدة وحامد فادي، وعبدالله الدوسري وعمر أيمن وياسين مراد وسلطان النعيمي وأيدان ميلر، ومحمد الجابري وأحمد محمد، وأنس حماد ومحمد أبو شقرة، ولؤي أحمد، وعبدالله السيد.من جانبه يبدأ المنتخب السعودي حملة الدفاع عن لقبه بعد غد السبت بمواجهة المنتخب المصري على استاد حمد الكبير، فيما يلتقي العراق واليمن في اليوم نفسه على استاد سعود بن عبدالرحمن.وتتواصل منافسات دور المجموعات حتى 29 أكتوبر الجاري، ويتأهل صاحبا المركزين الأول والثاني من كل مجموعة إلى الدور قبل النهائي المقرر في الأول من نوفمبر المقبل، فيما تقام المباراة النهائية يوم 4 نوفمبر على استاد حمد الكبير.ووفق نظام البطولة، في حال التعادل في الوقت الأصلي لمباريات الدور نصف النهائي والمباراة النهائية، يحتكم المنتخبان المتنافسان مباشرة إلى ركلات الترجيح لتحديد المنتخب الفائز.وتشارك مصر والصين في بطولة "خليجي الناشئين" بدعوة رسمية لتوسيع قاعدة المشاركة، في خطوة تمنح المنتخبات المشاركة فرصة خوض منافسات قوية ومتنوعة، بما يساعدها على التحضير بصورة أفضل للمشاركات الدولية المقبلة، وعلى رأسها بطولة كأس العالم تحت 17 عاما FIFA قطر 2026 للمنتخبات المتأهلة إليها.وكانت النسخة الأولى من بطولة كأس الخليج لمنتخبات تحت 17 عاما قطر 2025 قد شهدت تتويج المنتخب السعودي باللقب، بعد فوزه في النهائي على نظيره الإماراتي بهدفين دون رد.
32 Schools to Compete in Mini World Cup for 2026–2027 Season
DOHA – The Local Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, in collaboration with the Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF), has announced the group allocations for the new season of the Mini World Cup, which will bring together 32 schools in a competition designed to broaden student participation in basketball and strengthen their connection with the highly anticipated global event.The announcement was made at a press conference held today, attended by Abdulla Al Mawlawi, Executive Director of the Communications and Guest Relations Committee at the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Local Organizing Committee; Predrag Bogosavljev, Director of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027; and Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Executive Director of the School Olympic Program, alongside representatives of participating schools, organizing committee officials and members of the media.The group allocations were determined based on the final standings from the inaugural edition, held during the 2025–2026 academic year, with schools ranked from first to 32nd place. The draw also gave schools the opportunity to select the countries they would represent, creating an experience inspired by international basketball competitions and enabling students to explore the sport from both an athletic and cultural perspective.The initiative combines sporting competition with learning, encouraging students to play basketball, develop teamwork and embrace the values of respect, sportsmanship and intercultural understanding.
Qatar Name 23-Player Squad for U-17 Gulf Cup
DOHA – Qatar U-17 national team head coach Nicholas Arnaldo has named a 23-player squad for the second edition of the U-17 Gulf Cup, Qatar 2026, which will take place from October 16 to November 4, featuring 10 teams.Qatar have been drawn in Group A alongside the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and China, while Group B comprises Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen and Egypt.The top two teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the final to compete for the title.
