Doha-Qatar’s Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba won silver of the men’s trap event at the 10th Asian Shooting Championship held in Kazakhstan.
The 42-year-old shot down 27 targets to finish behind Kuwait’s Naser Meqlad (31). China’s Haicheng Yu finished third with 21 hits.
Earlier, Al Athba had topped the qualification stage after a shoot-off with Kuwait’s Talal Al Rashidi. After 125 shots, the two shooters were level on 119 each. Rashid then finished on top with five successful hits to Talal’s four.
On the other hand, the Qatar Shooting & Archery Association is preparing to host the shooting World Cup at its Lusail shooting range next March after it was chosen to stage the event at the Executive Committee of the Asian Shooting Confederation in Kazakhstan.
