Doha: The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) has commended the remarkable progress and achievements of Qatar’s national volleyball teams in recent years, attributing this success to the strong support provided by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
In a report published today on its official website, the AVC highlighted the significant accomplishments of Qatar’s men’s volleyball team, noting that the sport in Qatar has established a strong international presence through a highly successful program in both indoor and beach volleyball.
The report emphasized that since 2018, the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) has benefited from continuous support from the FIVB, which has contributed to outstanding results for Qatar’s men’s indoor team and the beach volleyball duo of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, who won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, expressed his pride in the rapid evolution of Qatari volleyball over the past few years.
He acknowledged that the journey involved several challenges, but through dedication and strategic planning, Qatar has successfully overcome them to achieve a strong standing in the international volleyball scene.
“Since the implementation of FIVB’s support programme, Qatar’s national team has achieved several milestones, including qualification for the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, boosting confidence and international recognition. Additionally, our victory in the Gulf Championship in Kuwait, where Qatar dominated the tournament with a flawless 3-0 victory in every match, and winning the Asian Challenge Cup in Bahrain, securing first place in a highly competitive event, are testament to our growing prowess,” Al-Kuwari highlighted.
“FIVB Volleyball Empowerment’s support has played a pivotal role in elevating our programme and ensuring continued success. We look forward to further collaboration and continued growth of the sport worldwide.” He added.
