The 20 year-old lifted a combined 381 Kg. The gold medal went to Iran's Sehrab Mouradi, who lifted a total of 410 Kg. Assouna was just 1Kg away from the bronze medal.
The Qatari champion said that competition was intense this year, especially that there were athletes who won gold in the Rio Olympics. He added that he could not describe how happy he was after winning the silver medal, added that he gave it his all.
This is the second medal in Qatar in the competition, following Hamad Al Marri's bronze in the double trap.
