BEIRUT, June 23, 2018- The Qatari basketball team defeated their Armenian counterparts 72-63 on Friday at the three-day International Tripartite Basketball Tournament being held in Beirut, Lebanon in preparation for the last two matches in the Asian qualifying for the 2019 World Cup in China.
The tournament began on Thursday where Qatar suffered a 85-52 defeat at the hands of hosts Lebanon.
This tournament is a good opportunity to prepare the team for the matches of Iran on June 29 and Iraq on July 2 in World Cup qualifiers, where Qatar is equal to the Iraqi team in the number of points with 5 points each in the group, and each competing for the third place in the group, after Iran and Kazakhstan qualified for the second round of the decisive World Cup qualifiers.
