Amman, September 17, 2018- Qatar's handball team defeated their UAE counterparts 35-31 in the opening round of Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship, currently taking place in Jordan.
The competition also serves as a qualifier to next year's world cup in Macedonia. The two teams played a strong first half, ending it 17-17.
The second half saw the Qatari players dictate the match, especially after two phenomenal saves from the keeper that turned the match on its head.
Head of the team's delegation Khalifa Tayseer stressed on the importance of winning the first match of the competition, saying that starting off a competition with a win is always important. He also focused lights of the next match against Iran and said that they are very strong team technically and physically.
