Aichi-Nagoya, Japan – The Qatar delegation participating in the 20th Asian Games – Aichi-Nagoya 2026 celebrated Team Qatar’s men’s 3x3 basketball team following their outstanding achievement in securing the silver medal, adding another podium finish to Qatar’s medal tally at the Games.

The celebration, held at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya, was attended by His Excellency Mohammed bin Youssef Al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC); His Excellency Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the QOC; Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Director of the Sports Sector at the QOC; and Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Al Buenain, Director General of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Organizing Committee, alongside members of Qatar’s 3x3 basketball team.

The silver medal capped an impressive campaign by Team Qatar, who defeated Iran in the semi-finals before finishing runners-up to South Korea in Friday’s final.

Qatar was represented in the men’s 3x3 basketball competition by Mohammed Hashem, Hamad Yassin, Nizar Mahmoud and Mubarak Jama. The quartet delivered a series of strong performances throughout the competition to reach the final and secure the silver medal.

The 3x3 basketball silver lifted Team Qatar’s medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 to five – two gold, two silver and one bronze. Qatar’s two gold medals came in the shooting skeet events, while the karate team added one silver and one bronze.

The Qatar Olympic Committee continues to celebrate Team Qatar athletes who achieve success at the 20th Asian Games by welcoming them to Bayt Qatar in Nagoya and recognising their outstanding performances throughout the Games.
