Qatar Fund for Development signs a memorandum of understanding with FIBA Basketball World Cup- Qatar 2027 LOC

Doha - Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Local Organizing Committee - FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027. Which comes with the aim of using basketball as a tool for achieving peace and building development around the world in addition to instilling its basic values through the implementation of several programs and projects.

On this occasion, HE Mr. Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD said: “Through the Fund's various initiatives and projects, we have been able, with confident steps, to create numerous opportunities, especially for young people in developing countries and conflicted areas, to express themselves by using effective and innovative tools like sports,  that simulate their interests and bring them together, with the aim of supporting the development and peace of their societies. And today we sign This important memorandum with the Local Organizing Committee - FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, continuing these effective efforts, promoting peace, and ensuring the achievement of the sustainable development goals.”

 Mr. Mohammed Saad Al-Meghaiseeb, President of Qatar National Basketball Federation and Director General of the Local Organising Committee - FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 stated:"We are pleased to sign this agreement and eagerly look forward to working with the Qatar Fund for Development to make sports a means for peace and to bring about fundamental and positive changes in communities worldwide. We consider this an excellent initiative for dialogue, the exchange of ideas and enhancing best practices in legacy delivery."

This memorandum comes within the framework of the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) “Basketball for Good” programs, emphasizing on the  joint efforts to enhance the role of sport as a tool for achieving peace and building development around the world, targeting conflicted areas and countries most in need, as this memorandum will contribute to support the resilience of these communities, and It will focus in particular on young people.
