ALGARVE, Portugal: Global football star Cristiano Ronaldo scored as Portugal beat Qatar 3-0 at Algarve Stadium on Saturday.
Now playing for Manchester United, Ronaldo clipped one into the net following a defensive error from Bassam Al Rawi in the 37th minute. Jose Fonte doubled the lead in the 48th minute while Andre Silva (90th minute) added the third.
Qatar now face the Republic of Ireland in their next 2022 World Cup, European Zone, qualifying match on Tuesday.
Qatar players return to Doha on Wednesday, and national team players resume playing matches in the QNB Stars League.
