Qatar Win Seven Medals in Shooting at GCC Games Doha 2026

Doha: Qatar shooters won seven medals today, including three gold and four silver medals, in the trap and 10m air pistol competitions held at Lusail Shooting Complex as part of the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026, which conclude next Friday.

Qatar’s three gold medals came in the following events:
In the men’s team trap competition, the Qatari trio of Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Angelo Scalzone, and Saeed Abu Sharib won gold after finishing first with a total of 354 targets. Kuwait claimed silver with 344 targets, while the UAE secured bronze with 341 targets.

In the women’s 10m air pistol individual event, shooter Doaa Habib won gold after finishing first with 231.2 points. UAE shooter Ghalia Al Shuhail claimed silver with 229.6 points, while Bahrain’s Aisha Al Braiki won bronze with 209.2 points.

Qatar’s third gold medal came in the women’s team 10m air pistol event through Doaa Habib, Aisha Al Abdullah, and Salma Al Maas, who finished first with 1,669 points. Bahrain won silver with 1,646 points, while the UAE took bronze with 1,634 points.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s four silver medals came in the women’s team trap competition, where the Qatari trio of Meitha Al Buainain, Khulood Al Khalaf, and Ray Bassil finished second with 310 targets. Kuwait won gold with 320 targets, while Bahrain secured bronze with 298 targets.

In the men’s individual trap event, Mohammed Al Rumaihi won silver, while Kuwait’s Abdulrahman Al Faihan claimed gold and UAE shooter Yahya Al Muhairi secured bronze.

Meitha Al Buainain also won silver in the women’s individual trap event behind Kuwait’s Shahad Al Hawal, while Bahrain’s Marwa Bouarki secured bronze.

In the men’s team 10m air pistol competition, Qatar’s Khalid Al Shaiba, Nasser Al Sunaij, and Mohammed Al Yafei won silver with 1,679 points, while Saudi Arabia claimed gold with 1,693 points and Oman secured bronze with 1,664 points.

The medal ceremonies were attended by Dr. Mishaal Ibrahim Al Nasr, President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti, Secretary-General of the federation, and Ahmed Anani, Executive Director of Qotenos Company.

With these results, Team Qatar shooting raised their overall tally at the GCC Games to 18 medals, including eight gold, five silver, and five bronze medals.

The shooting competitions conclude tomorrow, Wednesday, with the mixed team trap and mixed team 10m air pistol events followed by the finals and medal ceremonies.

Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti, Secretary-General of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of Team Qatar shooters after winning seven medals today and raising their total tally to 18 medals.

Al Sulaiti said: “Our shooters managed to reach the podium and win seven medals today despite the strong competition against some of the Gulf region’s top shooters in the trap and pistol events. This confirms the success of the federation’s strategic plans led by Dr. Mishaal Ibrahim Al Nasr, in addition to the intensive preparation camps and integrated administrative and technical efforts.”
