LIMA, Peru– Qatari runner Hatem Hamid reached the semi-finals of the men’s 800m race at the 2024 World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru after topping his heat.
The Qatari athlete clocked 1:49.98 seconds to begin his campaign in style.
Team Qatar members are taking part in the event, which will conclude on Saturday, with a total of 11 athletes who will be competing in six disciplines including hammer throw, pole vault, discus throw, 800m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles and 400m relay.
The Qatari team comprise of a group of promising athletes under the age of 20, namely Ahmed Jabreen, Saif Mohammed, Hatem Hamid, Ibrahim Abdullah, Khaled Hussein, Omar Daoud, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Mahmoud Moussa, Osama Mohammed, Mazen Abdul Majeed, and Youssef Abdul Aziz.
