DOHA – The Qatar Olympic Committee's Human Resources and Administrative Affairs Department, in collaboration with the Sports Events Department, organized an educational workshop on Monday titled "World Walking Day: A Simple Step Towards Better Health" to mark World Walking Day.
The event was held at QOC's Lusail Conference Hall. The workshop gathered officials and employees from various QOC departments, sections, and units, alongside representatives from sports federations.
Keynote speaker Mr. Khalid Al-Amri, a former track and field athlete and fitness coach, discussed the benefits of walking as a sport, highlighting its positive impact on cardiovascular health.
Mr. Al-Amari also stressed the importance of appropriate sportswear and footwear for walking, their effect on athletic performance, and techniques for maintaining balance and stability to prevent injuries.
World Walking Day is a major global event and part of QOC's community initiatives aimed at promoting sports for all and raising awareness of the importance of sports in fostering healthy societies.
