Rashed Nawaf cruises to quarterfinals of ITF Asia Championships in Bangkok

Bangkok, September 18, 2018-Qatar's Rashed Nawaf qualified to the quarterfinals of singles and doubles events at the 2018 ITF Asia 14 & Under Closed Championships being held in Bangkok, Thailand until September 22, 2018.

The fifth seed Nawaf qualified to the quarterfinals of singles event after beating Nelaka Dissanayake of Sri Lanka 6-1 6-2.

In the quarterfinals, Nawaf will take on Christian Andre Sheng Liew of Malaysia.

Nawaf reached the third round of the championships following his 6-3 6-2 victory over Kittin Aeb Iem of Thailand.

In double event, Rashed Nawaf teamed up with Syria's Mohamad Yaman Naghnagh to reach the quarterfinals.

In the third round, Nawaf and Naghnagh edged past Uzbekistan's Said Akbarov and Ismoil Hayriddinov 6-7(5) 6-4 10-6 to cruise to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, they will clash against Malaysia's Mitsuki Wei Kang Leo and Christian Andre Sheng Liew.

Nawaf is participating in the ITF Asian Championships after being invited by the Asian Tennis Federation as one of the best 48 players in the continent.
