Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Set to Compete in London Leg of Longines Global Champions Tour

DOHA  – Qatari show jumper Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani will return to action at the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League, with the prestigious event’s 10th leg taking place from August 7 to 9 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, United Kingdom.

The London leg will bring together the world’s leading riders and some of the finest horses in the sport, as Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani competes in both the individual competition and the team event as part of the Doha Falcons. The Qatari team will battle against 16 other teams for titles and prize money exceeding £1.5 million, including a record £1 million for the feature Grand Prix, the richest prize in the tour’s history. The premier class will be contested over obstacles reaching 1.60 metres.

The event will feature a star-studded field of international riders, including Wadnan rider Abdulrahman Said, who currently leads the championship standings with 187 points, alongside Max Kühner, Christian Ahlmann, Henrik von Eckermann, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Ben Maher, Scott Brash and Harry Charles.

The line-up also includes previous London Grand Prix winners such as Peder Devos, Christian Kukuk and Peder Fredricson, as well as Katrin Eckermann, Sophie Hinners, Maikel van der Vleuten, Denis Lynch, Gregory Cottard, Gilles Thomas, Victor Bettendorf, Sanne Thijssen and Harry Allen, among many other leading names.

British fans are expected to create a spectacular atmosphere after tickets for the London leg sold out, with strong home support anticipated for Britain’s leading riders, including Ben Maher, Scott Brash and Harry Charles, as they seek victory in front of their home crowd. Popular home favourites such as Jack Whitaker, Joseph Stockdale, Jody Hall McAteer and Sienna Charles will also be looking to impress.

Following London, the Longines Global Champions Tour will head to Valkenswaard in the Netherlands for its 11th leg from September 4 to 6, before moving to Vienna from September 24 to 26. The tour will then travel to the historic Italian capital Rome from October 9 to 11, followed by a spectacular new destination at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt from October 22 to 24.

The Cairo leg represents one of the tour’s major surprises this season, following an agreement for the Egyptian capital to host a round of the prestigious series. The tour will then return to the Arab world for its next stop in Rabat, Morocco, from October 30 to November 1, before concluding with the GC Playoffs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 18 to 21, 2026.
