DOHA - The Qatari men's national padel team secured a 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in the second round of the Arabian Gulf Padel Championship, currently taking place at the Padel In courts in Doha. The tournament runs until September 19.
Organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, the championship features national teams from across the Gulf region, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman. The competition follows a league format, with each team playing three matches per round.
Qatar claimed the win by securing victories in two out of the three matches against Saudi Arabia. The pair of Rashid Nawaf and Hassan Wali delivered a strong performance, winning their match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Mohammed Saadoun and Mishari Nawaf followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win.
However, in the third match, the Saudi duo overcame Qatar’s Ali Al Saadi and Khalid Saadoun, winning 7-5, 2-6, 6-0.
This marks Qatar’s second consecutive win in the tournament, following a 3-0 victory over Oman in the opening round. The Qatari team will face Kuwait in the third round on Wednesday.
