DOHA - Qatar’s national football team will lock horns against Uzbekistan in the pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match to be held at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club on Thursday.
Currently, Qatar sits in fourth place in Group One with four points, edging the UAE on goal difference. Iran leads the group with 10 points, tied with Uzbekistan on points but ahead on goal difference.
Kyrgyzstan holds fifth place with three points, while North Korea is in last with two points.
The top two teams in each of the three groups will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, securing six out of eight direct AFC spots. Teams finishing third and fourth will advance to the Asian play-offs, which will follow a single-round league format, with each group’s winner securing a spot in the World Cup.
