DOHA – Qatar’s U17 men’s handball team claimed a convincing 38-24 win over China in their opening Group B match at the inaugural Asian Men’s U17 Handball Championship, currently taking place in Amman, Jordan from September 15–25.
With this victory, Qatar advanced to the tournament’s main round and will face Saudi Arabia tomorrow (Wednesday) to determine the group’s top spot.
The championship features 13 teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will move on to the main round, followed by semifinals for the best four teams.
The top two finishers in the tournament will qualify for the first-ever IHF Men’s U17 World Championship, set to take place in Morocco from October 24 to November 1, 2025.
