Team Qatar to Participate in Asian Throwing Championships in South Korea

DOHA-The Qatar Athletics Federation announced Wednesday the Qatari national team's participation in the third Asian Throwing Championships, which kicks off on Thursday, in Mokpo, South Korea, and will continue on Aug. 21 and 22.

The federation said in a statement on its official website that a group of field athletes competing in various throwing events, most notably Ahmed Jabreen and Ashraf Al Saifi, will compete in the shot put and hammer throw competitions, aiming to enhance Qatari athletics' successes at the Asian level.

The statement added that another goal of participating in the championship is to provide a number of promising players with the opportunity to gain experience, in addition to raising the competitive level of the throwing athletes who will compete in the World Championships in Tokyo next month.

It is noteworthy that Ahmed Jabreen is considered one of the best athletes in the shot-put competition in West Asia, with a throw that is the best this season (17.88 meters), while Ashraf El Seifi has accumulated great experience in the hammer throw competition, and the throw (78.19 meters) is his best number.
