Doha: The Qatar national beach volleyball team will take part in the 4th West Asia Beach Volleyball Tour for men and women, set to be held in Muscat, Oman, from October 17 to 23.
The first leg of the tour was hosted in Doha, followed by the second in Amman (Jordan) and the third in Lebanon.
Qatar’s men’s team will be represented by Mahmoud Essam and Saif Al Majid, while the women’s team will feature Haya Abu Issa and Laila Mohammed. The delegation, which departed for Muscat today, is led by Khalifa Al Hamad, a member of the Beach Volleyball Committee.
The Qatari squad aims to continue its strong performances on the regional circuit, building on its recent success at the Elite16 Newport Beach World Tour event in California, USA, where Team Qatar claimed the title.
During that tournament, Cherif Younousse achieved a new personal milestone by recording the highest number of blocking points, surpassing Sweden’s Jakob Helteing Nilsson and Latvia’s Kristians Fokerots.
The team is also preparing for the upcoming 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships (Adelaide 2025), to be held in Adelaide, Australia, from November 14 to 23, featuring 48 elite teams from around the world.
Team Qatar has a proud record on the global stage, highlighted by winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and finishing fourth at the Paris 2024 Olympics — achievements that continue to reinforce Qatar’s standing among the world’s top beach volleyball nations.
