Manama: Qatar’s national men’s volleyball team secured a place in the second round of the inaugural West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, currently underway in Bahrain, following a 3-1 victory over Oman in their second Group B match.
The Qatari team displayed solid form, winning the match with set scores of 25–19, 25–16, 23–25, and 25–16. With this win, Qatar has now recorded back-to-back victories, having previously defeated Saudi Arabia in straight sets, and confirmed its qualification for the next round of the tournament.
Qatar will conclude its group stage campaign on Monday with a match against Kuwait, aiming to maintain a perfect record and top the group with three wins from three.
Group B features Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait, while Group A includes host nation Bahrain, along with Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon.
This tournament marks the first edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, organized under the leadership of Mr. Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the West Asia Volleyball Association. The event is part of the association’s vision to enhance regional competition and raise the technical level of the sport across member nations. (QNA)
